About me:
Hello and welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Best Life Counseling LLC. I have been providing counseling for teens, college students, adults, couples, and families since 2014. My education and academic interests include a variety of topics in psychology, philosophy, sociology, education, and marriage and family therapy. I have been studying these topics (more than any reasonable person probably should) for the past 18 years. When I entered college, I was not the warm, compassionate, intellectual that one might expect from a counselor. It was only after completing my bachelor’s degree and working in community mental health that I realized that I wanted to focus my career on helping others. And only through my own counseling did I develop the skills necessary to become an effective counselor. My formal education includes a BA in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Education in Counseling with a dual emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Stephens College in Missouri. I am a first-generation college student and a former McNair Scholar. Clinically, I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families ranging in age from children to older adults. I specialize in providing Mindfulness based, third wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy which are all heavily informed and influenced by attachment theory and social constructionism. What you can expect from me is a culturally sensitive counselor who values your unique experiences and background. I offer a judgement free space where all ideas, thoughts, feelings, and beliefs are welcome and encouraged. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them identify their specific goals as well as the obstacles that may be getting in the way of achieving those goals. From there we collaboratively develop individualized strategies to help you manage those obstacles with the help of your unique strengths, supports, and skills. I am grateful that you considered me to accompany you on this journey. |
