About me
Hello and thank you for learning more about me. My name is Barbara Paul and I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and Nationally Certified (NCC) Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I have been working professionally in my position for a little over a year, but have acquired clinical experience for almost two. I have been providing counseling for teens, adults, couples, and college students. I graduated from Penn State University with a BA in Psychology, and Edinboro University with a Master of the Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My work as a mental health professional has been enriched by my extensive experience within various professional fields. These experiences have offered me the ability to be present with my clients and provide them a deeper therapeutic connection. My own mental health journey has provided me with a foundation that is built on compassion and understanding. It is here where I can remain open to the unique needs that my clients have. Clinically I have a wide range of experience working with LQBTQIA, neurodiverse and multicultural individuals and couples. I utilize an integrative approach to support a diverse population that allows me to meet everyone’s unique needs. I have specialized training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and a certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and art therapy into my practice. I have experience working with trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, body image issues, disordered eating, ADHD, autism spectrum, and a variety of addiction. What to Expect in Counseling What you can expect from me as your therapist is someone who advocates for your wellness. I am respectful to my client’s worldviews and offer an environment that is compassionate and free of judgment. I seek out a collaborative partnership and value the therapeutic alliance. I adhere to the mantra that my clients are the experts themselves. I am an ally who will help you along the journey towards wellness, and work alongside my clients to utilize their own strengths to help them overcome their challenges and obstacles. It is through these factors, I believe, change can happen. Thank you so much for considering me towards your growth. |
